Come join ONE Santa Monica

in the Santa Monica July 4th Parade
& Fancy Dress Swim Against Malaria
Help eradicate malaria. How?
Join the Church in Ocean Park and ONE Santa Monica for an Independence Day
parade and Fancy Dress Swim! Put on your Sunday finest, parade down Main Street,
over to the beach and go swimming!
July 4 9:00 am for parade, 11:30 am for Fancy Dress Swim
Yes, participants really will be wearing suits and dresses and wading into the
Pacific but fear not, this fanciful event involves more of a dip than an actual swim.
Picture the Polar Bear Plunge in mid-summer with clothes!
Each five dollars donated buys a mosquito bed net and protects a child from
contracting malaria. Coordinator Herley Jim Bowling says “Malaria is one of the
planet’s most deadly diseases, killing the equivalent of seven jumbo jets full of
children daily. With World Swim Against Malaria, 100% of donations received go to
purchasing bed nets.” http://www.WorldSwimAgainstMalaria.com/OneSantaMonica
Meet for the parade in front of the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium at least by 9
AM with downloaded signed waiver https://oceanpark.net/opa/content/parade/. The
parade lines up on Main north of Pico and starts at 9:30. Or meet us at the beach at
the end of the parade, parking lot 5, southern-most of Santa Monica Beach.
Even if you can’t attend, by donating $5 you buy 1 malaria net for a child’s bed
and save a life.
Sponsors include: The Dream Project, Holy Guacamole, The Velvet Gypsy,
and Church in Ocean Park.
